Psalm 23.

A Beautiful word picture of God’s loving care of His children.

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall want.

This word picture of a shepherd leading his sheep to pasture signifies a personal relationship of believer’s complete dependance on God for our very lives. Jesus, the Good Shepherd said that He knows His sheep and is known of them: “My sheep know my voice and a stranger they will not follow” (John 10).

…by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding closely to Him; for He is your life [your good life, your abundant life, your fulfillment] and the length of your days

deuteronomy 30:20

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

john 10:10

He makes me to lie down in green pastures.

So Jesus said again, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I am [b]the Door for the sheep [leading to life]. All who came before Me [as false messiahs and self-appointed leaders] are thieves and robbers, but the [true] sheep did not hear them. I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security). 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have andenjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

john 10:7-10 AMP

He leads me beside still waters.

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up from some other place [on the stone wall], that one is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep [the protector and provider]. The [a]doorkeeper opens[the gate] for this man, and the sheep hear his voice and pay attention to it. And [knowing that they listen] he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out [to pasture]. When he has brought all his own sheep outside, he walks on ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice and recognize his call. They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”

JOHN 10:1-5 amp

He restores my soul.

When we are delivered from the power of darkness, we have been delivered into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13). The more light that we allow in our lives through God’s Word-spiritual wisdom and understanding, the more darkness that is shed from our lives and we experience “soul restoration”.

13 For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son

colossians 1:13 amp

He leads me in paths of righteousness for His names sake.

“For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it [c]out of reach. 12 It is not [a secret hidden] in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’ 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’ 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.

15 “Listen closely, I have set before you today life and prosperity (good), and death and adversity (evil); 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments (precepts), so that you will live and multiply, and that the Lord your God will bless you in the land

deuteronomy 30:11-15 amp

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou are with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Although the thief comes only in order to steal, to kill and to destroy; going to and fro in the earth seeking whom he may devour, Jesus, the Good Shepherd has promised us that He is with us, and He will lead us through the dark places into His marvelous Light.

Thou prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

Do you have any enemies? I use to think: “I don’t have any enemies. I like err-body and err-body likes me”. Well, whether that is true or not, all Christ-followers have spiritual enemies who are hell bent on trying to make our lives as miserable as possible. But God. Can somebody say but God? But God has a plan to defeat every enemy in your life and if you…wait for it, you shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Thou anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

The Lord anoints us with a fresh anointing of oil (the oil of Joy) for our journey to refresh our hearts and weary souls, and it is always important to remember that His grace is sufficient for us; because in due season, if we do not faint, we will see our cups running over with the joy of the Lord which is our strength.

[For my hope is] that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in [unselfish] love, so that they may have all the riches that come from the full assurance of understanding [the joy of salvation], resulting in a true [and more intimate] knowledge of the mystery of God, that is, Christ,

colossians 2:2

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

As we enjoy an intimate relationship with our Lord, delighting in Him and His care, protection and provision for us, let us enforce this word picture in our lives with a declaration that “The Lord is my Shepherd and He is well able (and it is His will) to provide everything that I need”.

And He also gives you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).

O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You;

My [a]soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You,

In a dry and weary land where there is no water.

So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary,

To see Your power and Your glory.

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,

My lips shall praise You.

So will I bless You as long as I live;

I will lift up my hands in Your name.

My [b]soul [my life, my very self] is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,

And my mouth offers praises [to You] with joyful lips

When I remember You on my bed,

I meditate and thoughtfully focus on You in the night watches,

For You have been my help,

And in the shadow of Your wings [where I am always protected] I sing for joy.

My [c]soul [my life, my very self] clings to You;

Your right hand upholds me.

psalms 63:1-8 amp

Grace and Peace,

Silvana
