Are You In The Family of God?

When you were growing up, did you ever say “I wish that I was never born into this family?” Well, you know, we don’t get to choose what “natural” family that we are born into, but we do get to choose our “spiritual” family.

We are all on this planet for a specified period of time. And we are free to make all kinds of choices (particularly if you live in the great country of America. What makes it great? We just celebrated Independence Day in this country and many would say, “What is there to celebrate?” You are free to make a choice to serve God, or not to serve Him. You get to choose which god you will serve, or you can serve many gods, and no one will persecute you for your choice.

I mean, we have to find something to be grateful for. Some would say what god would allow all these tragedies that we hear about on the news daily. Really? You lay that stuff at the feet of God? And to whose feet do you lay the good things in your life? I suppose some would credit themselves. So be it. But if there are no other opposing forces; just God, (there is another entity, and like it or not we all have to deal with his evil influences), then we’d all be sitting pretty right about now.

God is not the author of confusion and evil influence in our world. God is good and every good thing comes from above. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19). Some could say that the enemy has come in like a tidal wave and has wreaked havoc in their lives. On what foundation do they have to stand?

It is the Knowledge of the Truth That Truly Makes Us Free

The truth of the matter is that we all on this planet are in a fallen state in this corrupt world. But Jehovah has provided a scapegoat (through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the son of the living God), for us so that we could be forgiven and live eternally with Him. But until we make a choice, and change our allegiance from the one who is the god of this world (II Corinthians 4:4), we have made our choice.

We have to purposely repent (ask God to forgive us for our wrongdoing towards Him), acknowledge the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, and live according to the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
